DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is a high purity solution in water (32.5%). It is used to chemically transform harmful nitrogen oxide emissions from America’s diesel powered vehicles into harmless water vapor and nitrogen. DEF is contained in a separate tank and sprayed from the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system into the exhaust gases.

Under the new U.S. Regulations, most engine manufacturers have chosen the Selective Catalytic Reduction system as the most efficient way to meet these clean air standards.
